Terms of Service

Last updated: 12 October 2026

Not legal advice

Our courses, including those covering labour law, are training and educational material only. They are for general informational purposes, are not a substitute for legal advice, and do not create an attorney-client or advisor-client relationship between you and Learning in Progress, any instructor, or any contributor. Labour law and its application depend heavily on your specific facts and circumstances, and the law may change after course content is published. We make no promises, representations, or guarantees - express or implied - about the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any course content, or about any outcome, result, or success in any dispute, hearing, arbitration, litigation, or other legal or labour proceeding. Before acting or relying on anything you learn through the Service, you should consult a qualified attorney or labour law practitioner about your specific situation.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Learning in Progress website and online courses (the “Service”). By creating an account, enrolling in a course, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of the service

Learning in Progress provides self-paced online courses, including training related to labour law, delivered through video, reading material, quizzes, and downloadable resources. Course content is educational and informational in nature. As set out above, it is not legal advice, and completing a course - including passing any quiz or earning any certificate - is not a qualification, accreditation, or guarantee of any outcome.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or make a purchase. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at admin@learninginprogress.co.za if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

4. Course access and license

When you enroll in a course, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and view that course for your own individual learning. You may not share your account, resell, redistribute, publicly perform, or otherwise make course content available to anyone who has not separately enrolled, unless we have agreed to that in writing (for example, a cohort or organisational license).

5. Certificates

A certificate of completion confirms that you completed a course's lessons and met its quiz pass requirements on our platform. Unless we expressly state otherwise for a specific course, our certificates are not an accredited qualification and do not, on their own, satisfy any regulatory, professional, or continuing-education requirement. Confirm any requirement with the relevant body before relying on a certificate for that purpose.

6. Fees, payment, and refunds

Course prices are shown in South African Rand (ZAR) and payments are processed by PayFast; we do not receive or store your full card details. Once you are granted access to paid course content, that content is treated as digital content supplied immediately, and - to the extent permitted under South African law, including the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act - the standard cooling-off cancellation right does not apply once you have started accessing the course.

If you believe you were charged in error, or a course was materially different from how it was described, contact us at admin@learninginprogress.co.za and we will review your request.

7. Content you upload

If you are an instructor or administrator and upload material to the Service (for example, videos, documents, or images), you confirm you have the right to upload and share it, and you grant us a license to host, store, and display it as part of the Service. You remain responsible for the accuracy and legality of content you upload.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Share your account or access credentials with anyone else.
  • Copy, scrape, download, or redistribute course content beyond personal use.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the Service.
  • Upload unlawful, infringing, or harmful content.
  • Use the Service in a way that harasses or harms other users.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, branding, and course content we or our instructors created, is owned by Learning in Progress or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property law. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of that content to you.

10. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including PayFast for payments and Google for optional sign-in. Your use of those providers is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies, which we do not control.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including as to accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. As stated above, course content - including labour law training - is not legal advice and comes with no guarantee of any outcome.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Learning in Progress will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, including any decision made or action taken in reliance on course content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the course giving rise to the claim.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except as set out in Section 6 or required by law.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, and any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
